San Francisco, CA.,  August 21, 1997 - Today at ISPCON,  PaymentNet announced that Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI) is using the PaymentNet real-time transaction automation system to enable real-time credit card processing for Internet domain name registration payments on the InterNIC web site.

Network Solutions assigns, records, and tracks Internet addresses and the associated domain names for .com, org, and net. Adding a real-time, online payment method enables the company, which has assigned over 1.5 million domain names, to upgrade the level of service and response provided to its customers. Currently, domain registration payment is primarily provided through telephone order entry system and traditional postal mail invoicing. Because of the large number of monthly registrations, Network Solutions needed a solution that would support the high volume of transactions, was easy to implement, and did not require any system re-engineering of their legacy systems.

PaymentNets' proprietary transaction system was a critical factor in providing the level of processing services required by Network Solutions. The transaction automation system facilitates secure transmission of transaction data between disparate web sites and credit processing networks using PaymentNet's server.
