- Approval
- Any transaction that is approved by the card holders bank (issuer).

- Acquirer
- The bank or institution which issues Internet merchant accounts.

- Authorization
- A transaction type that authorizes funds and places a "hold to buy" on a
customers credit card account. This is the first transaction in the delayed
capture process. This transaction does not bill the card until a delayed
capture transaction is issued.

- Authorization Code
- The six-digit code issued by a bank for approved Sale and Authorization
transactions.

- Batch ID
- Once a daily batch is settled, it receives a Batch Id. Every transaction in the batch
shares this ID. If a transaction does not have an associated batch ID, the transaction has
not been settled.

- Batch Settlement
- All of a merchants daily sales, credit and delayed capture transactions are
automatically submitted for settlement by PaymentNet on a daily basis. This submits the
transactions to the bank for funds transfer.

- Credit
- A transaction type that will transfer funds from the merchants account back to a
customers credit card. This type of transaction is usually performed when a product
is returned to the merchant. A credit can be performed in the Transaction Terminal area of
PaymentNet Manager. A credit can be issued without the credit card number, if the merchant
has the PaymentNet transaction ID associated with the originating transaction.

- Decline
- A transaction that is not approved, and therefore fails. A declined transaction receives
a Result Code greater than zero.

- Delayed Capture
- A transaction type that uses the information from an authorization transaction to
bill a customers credit card. This is the second transaction in the delayed
settlement process.

- Delayed Settlement
- A two-transaction process, consisting of an authorization and a delayed
capture. This procedure must be used when the merchant delivers goods or services more
than 48 hours after they are ordered.

- Error Code
- Two-digit code returned from the processor. Value is 00 if transaction is approved.

- Host Address
- The PaymentNet server address to which transactions are sent. For production
transactions, the host address is "connect.PaymentNet.com". For test
transactions the host address is "test.PaymentNet.com".

- Host Port
- The port specified through the PaymentNet server for processing transactions. Use port
443 for production transactions, and port 1606 for test transactions.

- Internet Merchant Bank Account
- An account set up with an acquiring institution that enables a merchant to accept and
process credit cards for payment of goods.

- Issuer
- The bank or financial institution which has "issued" the credit card.

- Original Trans ID
- The PaymentNet Transaction ID from an Authorization or Sale
transaction that is used to submit a Delayed Capture or Credit transaction.
Also used to issue voids.

- Referral
- A transaction which has been declined. A referral indicates that if a call is placed to
the cardholders customer support center, a voice authorization may be provided.
Reasons vary for the conditions that must exist for an issuer to send a
"referral".

- Response Code
- A one-letter code that indicates whether a transaction was approved or declined.

- Result Code
- A one to three-digit number that indicates the result of a transaction. Approved
transactions receive a 0, while there are a variety of codes for declined
transactions, which may have failed for a variety of reasons. See the Help section in
PaymentNet Manager for a complete list of result codes.

- Return Code
- Any of the codes returned by PaymentNet when a transaction is processed. See the Help
section in PaymentNet Manager for a complete list of Return Codes.

- Sale
- An approved sale transaction that bills the purchasers credit card immediately.

- Settlement
- Every sale, credit, or delayed capture transaction is automatically settled by
PaymentNet on a daily basis. This process notifies the acquiring bank of the transactions
that have been approved for funds deposit to occur.

- Tender Type
- The type of "money" to be used in a transaction: credit card, electronic
check, ACH, EFT, etc.

- Transaction ID
- The unique number that PaymentNet assigns to every processed transaction. This is a
12-digit alpha-numeric string that always starts with a "P".

- Transaction Type
The operant function of a transaction. Transaction types: Sale, Credit,
Authorization, Delayed Capture and Void.

- Unsettled Transactions
- Every sale, credit, or delayed capture transaction that has not been batched for
settlement. Batch Settlement occurs every day at 9pm PST.

- Voice Authorization
- When a merchant telephones the cardholders bank, and the bank approves the
funds to used for a purchase, the merchant receives a Voice Auth. There is a
special function to capture a Voice Authorization in the Transaction Terminal.

- Void
- A void prevents settlement. A voided transaction cannot be reversed. It is not possible
to void an Authorization transaction. Only transactions which have not settled can
be "voided."
